A 2009 Toyota Yaris 3 door hatch.
106 hp.
A 5 speed manual transmission.
60/40 split folding seat.
Just shy of 150k miles on it. What do you think, Oppo?

That’s the one with the centre mounted instruments, eh?

Damn, that’s cheap for something with an awful lot of life left!

I’m a fan of 2 door hatchbacks. I had one of those (in auto) as a a rental car for a week and enjoyed it immensely. Fun car to chuck around. If you need a cheap daily I’d jump on that thing.

I see these in my rally dreams

There were a lot of economy cars around that time which had this “cute” look, for lack of a better term. Our family had one, which later became my first car, a 2009 Accent. The Yaris fits well, but the Spark also came around this time, and the Fit of the period all had this same characteristic.
They all had this kawaii Pokemon shit going on, and coincidentally all of thoseI mentioned cars are Japanese and Korean.
Also, given that I see a 2009 Yaris for sale locally (in good condition with 136k kilometres) I think this price is too high, unless it includes a Doug Demuro Land Rover style bumper-to-bumper-and-everything-in-between warranty.

Yes. I t’s the only thing about that car I don’t really like..

There are so many fun applications

The Yaris is an awesome car that will last a long time with no problems with low running costs :o)

Blitz made a supercharger for these. Still wasn’t that fast, but it did sound cool.

Well, its a Toyota with less than 200,000 miles, you could certainly do a lot worse for $5,000. Should have quite a bit of life left in it.
But, I do have to say that that interior is pretty depressing, even for a cheap car. Acres and acres of hard black plastic.

They make great auto-x cars. Strip them, coil overs, tires, & you have cheap monster.

Great car. I miss mine.
I had 250k+ Mi and did a rallycross at 110F.

Me too, I keep an eye out on these but it reminds me of a mini in a bad way. Though I realize it's a carryover from the echo that predates the modern mini.

Vitz Vitz Vitz- I’ve looked at them as a cheap commuter option, of course once you get it you would need to overnight parts from Japan and there go the saving...
Still though;

The price reflects its manual transmission which are really hard to find nowadays in my area.

My boss had one, called it CarCar. Decent for what it is, comfy commuter, can handle the highway fine as well as five large passengers. Has the awesome left-hand-next-to-air-vent cup holder, so a win in my book.

I've learned that a manual does not automatically make a boring car enjoyable. It's gonna be a no for me

If it were me, I'd spend a few hundred dollars more for a Fiat 500 with lower mileage and spring for an extended warranty. Yes, I'm serious. My 500 was fun, fantastic on gas, and it never gave me any impression that it would have any problems other than fit and finish or maybe some electrical issues. It did like to go through taillights for some reason. But it had way more personality than a Yaris and low mileage examples are dipping into the $5-6k range.

I LOVE this gen because of the extra glove box in front of the steering wheel

Today I saw a dude that was probably 17-18 driving a Chevy Traverse and I felt so bad for him. I couldn’t help but think that he’d have way more fun in something like a Yaris.

BUT IT HAS A GLOVE BOX ON BITH SIDES!

I think their only flaw is the center mounted gauge cluster. The center console is actually very handsome, but nothing is more awkward than centralized gauges .

I like the way you think. My Fiat 500 might be a cheap economy car, but it doesn't feel like one. It's a nice place to sit, even if it's a little cozy. And the car has some character.
